Social Studies gardening teks: Describe the positive and negative impacts both human and natural activities that can occur in a school garden

TEKS:
3.15(E) create written and visual material such as stories, pictures, maps, and geographic organizers to express ideas.
3.3(A) describe similarities and differences I the physical environment, including climate, landforms, natural resources, and natural hazards.

The digital media from the multimedia fair that I will be using will be the digital poster K-2. Students will use a google slide to create their digital poster. This is a great way for students to organize their research on the poster in a creative way. The students will research the positive and negative impacts that could occur in a school garden. Then they will take that information and create a digital poster of those impacts.

Materials: access to a phone/tablet, google slides

ISTE Standards:
5a: Evaluate and use CS and CT curricula, resources, and tools that account for learner variability to meet the needs of all students.
5b: Empower students to select personally meaningful computational projects.

I-Create Lab

There are many different resources in the lab. Some of those are 3-d printing, adobe, sawdering iron, cricket maker, sewing machine, embroidery machine, large format printer - banner, and a laser cutter.

One of the resources that me and my partner could use for our activity is the MacBook's that have the adobe program. That would be a great resource to use to create examples of the digital poster the student would create.

The second resource that me and my partner could use would be the large format printer. We could use this resource by creating a poster to show the different positive and negative impacts that could occur on a school garden.

A resource that I found interesting to possibly use is the 3-d printer. This could be used in many different lessons or activities for students to visually see and comprehend what they had to do. Or it could be used to create props for lessons.

I-Create Productivity

  • What will your students and adults DO with technology on their phones?
  • How will it best facilitate their CCISD MultiMedia fair submission opportunities?

Comments

  1. I like your idea for the digital poster. Students will be able to comment on them since is digital and that will help students receive feedback as mentioned in your standard.
